In an effort to expand on ideas and practices presented at the 2017 Colorado Wildland Fire Conference, FACO will host a learning exchange in Eagle County this June exploring a variety of different wildfire risk assessment and mitigation programs. Multiple risk assessment tools, apps and models exist, but how are assessments encouraging wildfire hazard reduction and adaptation in Colorado?
During this two day event we’ll take an in-depth look at innovative mitigation programs being implemented by: Vail Fire and Emergency Services, West Region Wildfire Council, Colorado Springs Fire Department, Eagle County, and Boulder County Wildfire Partners. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from each group, and learn more about how each of these programs work, and how they may be implemented or replicated in their own communities. Time will also be spent in the field comparing a number of different data collection tools associated with conducting wildfire risk assessments, and the science and technology behind each.
The event is scheduled for June 19-20, at the Eagle County Building, 500 Broadway, Eagle, Colorado. Travel and lodging reimbursements are available for FACO Members.
