Steve OrrTraining Specialist

    Training Specialist Steve Orr comes to FACO after 22 years with West Metro Fire Rescue in Lakewood, CO.  He served 19 years as a firefighter/paramedic and 3 years as a Lieutenant, and was deeply involved in the wildland fire program. He was instrumental in starting West Metro’s wildfire mitigation program and served as a wildfire mitigation specialist/coordinator for 8 years. He is a longtime member of both FACO and FAC Net and served on the FACO board in 2015/1016.  He understands the challenges facing wildfire mitigation professionals and hopes to provide valuable and practical tools, connections and skills for FACO members that will lead to better outcomes. He intends to be responsive to members and their needs, creating training opportunities that can meet those needs.

    Steve holds numerous NWCG qualifications, mostly in Operations and Planning, and has been on many fire assignments across the U.S. over the past 15 years. He recently went on his first CMAT assignment in Oregon. He has a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing, from UC Berkeley. Steve lives in Boulder with his wife, son, dog and cat. In his free time he enjoys hiking, cycling, fly fishing and trips to the Pacific Ocean.
