Wildfire Resilience Network and Training Fellow, Sophie Pullen joined Fire Adapted Colorado (FACO) in January 2025 through the AmeriCorps CivicSpark Fellowship program. Prior to joining us, Sophie graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in June 2024 with a degree in Environmental Studies.
Although Sophie is new to wildfire resilience, she is deeply passionate about all aspects of climate change. She first learned about climate change in depth during her AP Environmental Science class in high school. This passion grew at UCSB, where she participated in clubs such as the Environmental Affairs Board, volunteered at community gardens, met other passionate and like-minded individuals, and took a wide variety of environmental courses. During her fellowship, Sophie will work on and assist with projects such as the Neighborhood Ambassador Program and FACO’s Opportunity Fund.
In her free time, Sophie enjoys hiking to explore new trails and collecting wildflowers along the way. She also likes playing sports like tennis, pickleball, and volleyball, and making jewelry—a hobby she turned into a small business.
