Sam Strain is a Wildfire Prevention and Community Mitigation Specialist with the USFS Rocky
Mountain Region (Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas). Sam supports
wildfire prevention and mitigation personnel on the National Forests and Grasslands that make
up USFS Region 2. This includes program guidance and development, policy interpretation and
strategy/planning. Focus areas include Forest Orders/Fire Restrictions, Data
Collection/Analysis, Fire Prevention and Mitigation Plan support and Training. Sam has worked
in public service for 18 years with 11 years in federal wildland fire roles including suppression
and wildfire prevention.
