    Aaron Johnson is the Chief Operations Officer for the West Region Wildfire Council (WRWC), where he leads efforts to enhance wildfire resilience across six counties on Colorado’s Western Slope. In this role, he oversees community outreach, technical assistance, and program development, working closely with local stakeholders to reduce wildfire risk and promote mitigation strategies. Aaron’s background in fire and emergency services spans over a decade, with experience as both a Wildland Firefighter and a Structural Firefighter/EMT. He has worked with various agencies across the country, responding to wildfires and assisting communities in preparing for and recovering from fire events. Before joining WRWC, he worked along Colorado’s Front Range, engaging with community stakeholders to implement wildfire mitigation initiatives. Aaron holds a BAS in Emergency Services Administration and an AAS in Wildland Fire Science, providing him with a strong foundation in fire behavior, emergency response, and community preparedness. In addition to his operational experience, he has a passion for integrating technology into wildfire resilience efforts, leveraging tools like CRM systems and database management to improve communication, track mitigation efforts, and enhance program effectiveness. As a Board Member for Fire Adapted Colorado (FACO), he is dedicated to strengthening collaboration among wildfire professionals, expanding resources for mitigation practitioners, and helping communities across the state become more fire-adapted. He is excited to contribute his expertise to FACO’s mission, fostering connections and driving innovative approaches to wildfire resilience.
