The Boulder West Wildfire Authority (BWWA) consists of two members from each of the following Boulder County Fire Departments: Four Mile Fire Protection, Gold Hill Fire Department, Sugarloaf Fire Department, and Sunshine Fire Protection District.
Initially, the BWWA was established as a working group with the primary objective of developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) encompassing all four fire departments. Upon the completion of the CWPP, it was decided to maintain the authority as a framework for all four districts to collectively work toward a common goal: enhancing forest health in and around our respective fire districts.
The authority convenes quarterly meetings to deliberate on a range of topics, including grant opportunities, training initiatives, ongoing and proposed fuel management projects, and community engagement efforts, among others.
